Maris in a nutshell
The Mediterranean Arc is an ocean of sun-drenched vineyards in the south of France, where the atmosphere is unique. It’s in this wild setting that Maris wines are made from organic grapes grown in an environment that promotes biodiversity and sustainability.
At Maris, the case is clear: we work with nature, we follow her as much as we guide her. And she returns the favor. This relative wisdom consists in taking time. Time to do the right thing.
The history of Maris
Climate change is a decisive factor for the vine-growing industry. In our desire to preserve nature, we wanted our winery to require as little energy as possible to operate, while retaining its practicality.
So we opted for hemp, renowned for its natural insulation: a breathable material, drastically reducing carbon footprint and perfectly suited to today’s environmental challenges.
It took eight years to build this 9,000 m2 100% plant-based cellar, which is completely biodegradable, self-sufficient in energy and has a negative carbon footprint. A world first.
