Regenerative viticulture and biodiversity

Priority topics

  • Measuring “life” in soils and developing soil-regenerating viticulture practices
  • Diagnosis of biodiversity in vineyards

Focus : Regenerative viticulture

Explanations :

Our conviction at Cordier: biodiversity and soil health are our priority. Indeed, increasing organic matter and microbial life in soils improves :

  • Useful water reserves,
  • Biodiversity,
  • Soil carbon capture,
  • Vine resistance to disease, leading to a reduction in inputs,
  • Resistance to climatic risks.

In the end, this enables us to ensure a quantitative and qualitative harvest, and to control costs, and therefore producers’ income.

    Actions :

We support our partner cooperatives in this sustainable viticulture approach. Soil analyses to measure organic matter and micro-organisms have been carried out on 30 vineyard plots in different terroirs. These analyses, which have enabled us to draw up an inventory of the situation, are followed by support in adapting winegrowing practices to increase the level of organic matter and microbial life in winegrowing soils. The process is currently being extended to more plots.
