CORDIER BY INVIVO LAUNCHES ITS FIRST BLOCKCHAIN-ENABLED WINE AT VINITECH-SIFEL, WITH CRYSTALCHAIN

Bordeaux, November 22, 2022

From November 29 to December 1, the VINITECH-SIFEL trade show will open its doors in Bordeaux for the 23rd edition of this world-renowned event for the wine, fruit and vegetable industries.

Crystalchain will be exhibiting at Vinitech in the Startup Village (Hall 1, stand B1911), to offer visitors a demonstration of the traceability platform, created in collaboration with Cordier teams. This demonstration will allow visitors to interact with the use case of its first wine traced on the blockchain.

The Paris-based startup, an experienced business expert in both blockchain and the deployment of this type of traceability solutions for various sectors, naturally attracted Cordier by InVivo’s interest in building its platform.

On 29/11 at 11:29am, the preview of La Cuvée Mythique – IGP Pays d’Oc vintage 2021 blockchain will be unveiled.

THE BLOCKCHAINED MYTHICAL VINTAGE: BETWEEN TRANSPARENCY AND EDUCATION

The scan of a QR code will allow to follow the entire course of the wine until the tasting. In this way, Cordier promotes the work of the winemakers and oenologists at work by tracing all the major stages of wine making, from the vine to the bottle.

Thus, all the information related to La Cuvée Mythique will be presented in 5 points:

The journey of the wine via an interactive map with the location of the cellars, but also of the maturation and bottling;
The vineyard, with the proportion of the different grape varieties used, a description of the territory and the certifications;
The elaboration, with the different stages, the duration of the maturation, the oenotechnical descriptions of the wine, and the testimony of Marie Julian, the oenologist in charge of Mythique;
The tasting, with a description of the aromas and a proposal for food and wine pairing;
Then Mythique’s commitments to the protection of the Languedoc terroir and biodiversity, which are part of Cordier by InVivo’s CSR approach, namely Terra 360.

It is only natural that Cordier chose La Cuvée Mythique to launch its first wine traced on the blockchain. This historic Languedoc brand is basically a pioneer. La Cuvée Mythique was born from a union of winemakers who knew how to select the best of their grapes to enhance their terroir, all with respect for nature.

ADAPTING TO NEW CONSUMER EXPECTATIONS

“Consumers are increasingly demanding information on the origin of what they buy, the grapes that go into the wine blend, the work of the winemakers and oenologists behind the cuvée, the consideration given to the environment in the choices made up to the final product… It is not easy to integrate all this information, however essential, on a wine label. Blockchain is the ideal innovation to meet this need for transparency while remaining interactive with the consumer,” explains Sophie Talbot, Marketing and Strategy Director for Cordier by InVivo.

Hugo Sereys, Sales Director for Crystalchain, explains the startup’s ambition as “a desire to serve responsible industries and to support them in implementing a tool that not only helps them prove their responsibility or impact but also gives them the means to appreciate the levers of change more easily, to increase both CSR and economic performance.”

The blockchain traceability platform thus makes it possible to share with as many people as possible and in transparency, how each Cordier brand, starting with La Cuvée Mythique, fits into Cordier’s CSR approach: Terra 360.

To support this, on the morning of December 1, there will be a roundtable discussion
“Blockchain: what future and what applications in the wine sector?”, with Laurent David, President of WineTech, Hugo Sereys, Sales Director of Crystalchain, and Florian Blandinières, Digital Project Manager at Cordier.

The malt business of the InVivo group, has also chosen this technological solution and recently produced in collaboration with the Chandres brewery, the first blockchain-enabled craft beer on the French market.

The first bottles of La Cuvée Mythique blockchainée will be delivered to supermarkets in the next few weeks and will be available in the following stores:

Cora Forbach (57) -> Wine fair until mid-December
Super U Carquefou (44) -> beginning of December
Super U Saint Jean de Monts (85) -> beginning of December
Carrefour Narbonne (11) -> from December 6th
Carrefour Market Marseillan (34) -> from December 15th

About Crystalchain

Crystalchain is a French company created in 2016, specialized in blockchain traceability. It allows stakeholders in a sector to add value to their production via the registration on its platform of all product information (origin of raw materials, certificates, data on quality, CSR…). This is possible regardless of the complexity of the value chain, the size of the organizations, or their digital maturity.

Crystalchain’s offer meets the needs of industries and the growing demands of consumers for transparency. Indeed, all or part of the value chain can be recorded on the platform and subsequently displayed via dashboards for manufacturers and QR codes for consumers.

A key player in this technology, the company has chaired the French commission of the ISO blockchain technical committee since 2016.
